Enjoy the entertaining aircraft as they land and take-off between bites of a delicious "Bomber Burger". Chocolate malts, prepared with ice-cream that is made especially for us right here in Fredericksburg, and hand battered onion rings are awaiting your enjoyment.

This absolutely beautiful Airport Diner is again a "one of a kind" creation built after considerable research into the Diners of old. Lots of stainless, terrazzo floors, black granite counters and booth tops, all provide comfortable relaxing dining on old time diner favorites.

The Airport Diner is a classic 1940's diner, located next door to the Hangar Hotel and immediately adjacent to the Gillespie County Airport aircraft parking ramp.  From the booths, you can watch airplanes and other aircraft come and go while enjoying great sandwiches, breakfast all day, and the daily Chef's Blue Plate Specials.  The Diner is not just a place to grab some food, but rather a unique atmosphere to relax and enjoy a good meal while reliving the past.  And you never know what you might see land just outside the window. 

Designed after the railcar diners of old in the northeastern states, the Airport Diner features a curved ceiling of birch trimmed in mahogany.  Bright stainless abounds on the walls, as wells as the equipment and fixtures.  The floors are done in the lost art of terrazzo, which consists of the grinding and polishing of granite particles.  All counter-tops are black granite with soda fountain stools and booth seating are done in matching comfortable mahogany colored fabric.  Original aviation  art by Lance Von Prum, decorates the walls.  Large windows allow ample viewing of the aircraft parked adjacent to the diner or to arriving and departing aircraft on the main runway.

A great staff is available to serve you.  The staff is either young students working their way through college or a young parent raising  young children.  Return guests look forward to visiting with the staff to see what adventures have occurred in their lives since their last stop.  These bright young servers will have fun with you, if you don't watch out.  Breakfast and lunch hours can be very busy, but they will usually wear big smiles such as these.

The Diner serves homemade biscuits, sausage gravy, eggs, pancakes, Belgium waffles, home fried potatoes, sausage, bacon and ham all day long.  In addition, salads, BLT, club, chicken, hot roast beef or turkey sandwiches are served. Bomber Burgers are also favorites.  A fine selection of healthy salads are also available for your choosing.  A full line of delicious ice cream and desserts are featured. These include malts/shakes in stainless containers, along with floats, sundaes, banana splits, peach cobblers, brownies, etc.  And don't forget the hand-battered Diner Onion Rings. Kid's menu selections include, Rosie the Riveter Grilled Cheese Sandwich with Chips, Kamikaze Dogs with Chips, Patton's P B & J Sandwich with Chips, Nimitz Chicken Nuggets with French Fries. Ask your server about daily Blue Plate Specials.

Saturday - 8:00 AM till 4:00 PM.

Sunday - 8:00 AM till 2:00 PM.
